The Most Anticipated Single Player Games of 2016/2017 Part 2
In a world of multi player games there are a few gems that are designed to be played alone. I’m not saying that I’m anti social or anything but sometimes I just want to sit in a darkened room and explore a cave system or traverse the galaxy and not have to speak to anyone. This list carries on from my previous one and highlights some of the up and coming single player games that are going to be hitting our small screens over 2016/2017.
Horizon Zero Dawn
Horizon Zero Dawn looks like one to watch. Set to come out next year Horizon Zero Dawn smashes together a Jurassic landscape and futuristic technology. From the little gameplay I have seen the game looks incredible it’s smooth and fluid, going from sneaking round the massive sandbox to intense battles against twisted machines. The combat looks great with the machines throwing stones through buildings in an attempt to squash you, it’s like a set piece inside the normal gameplay which is fantastic. As with most games coming out the graphics look immaculate with rolling hills of green and huge lakes, all of which it seems you are free to explore. It kind of reminds me of Skyrim mixed with Metal Gear Solid…a strange mix but one full of promise.

Dues Ex: Mankind Divided
Now the only experience I have personally had with the Dues Ex series is watching an old house mate get killed a bunch of times of the hardest difficulty. I can’t say it was the most enticing look at the game. However, looking at the gameplay and cinematic trailer for Dues Ex: Mankind Divided, I may have been a bit hasty. The game is set in a world where augmented humans are targets of hatred, you play as Adam Jenson who is charged with bringing down a terrorist organization. You seem to have a standard semi open world to explore with things to pick up and craft into other things, but what sets it apart is the use of your augmented abilities. With these you can do things like spot weak points in walls and punch through, or kill a whole room of people with what seems like mini poisonous gas clouds. It is coming out very soon and does look really good so, if you’re a fan of the series or simply looking for another game where you feel superior to normal humans, this will be for you.

Days Gone
I mentioned in my review of Dying Light that I like a good zombie game. I even went as far as to say there was something comforting about them. Days Gone seems to be the opposite of comforting choosing to opt for the World War Z zombie approach rather than the shuffling corpse version. This means that you will have hundreds of dead people sprinting at you all intent on seeing the inside of you on the outside. The gameplay that I have seen so far seems to point at more of an open world game which is great because there will be more room to run away. Using the environment to help you is also a big feature, like crafting make shift silencers, or using explosives on log piles which is never a bad thing. Days Gone seems to be a bit more realistic than other Zombie games….or as realistic as you can get, we are still talking about Zombies! It reminds me of The Last of Us but with more access to bullets…and explosives, and you’re a biker. Apart from that it seems similar.
