Project Highrise Review

Words cannot explain Project Highrise.

Two Towers

Project Highrise is a business simulator management game is the spiritual successor to SimTower. If anyone is old enough to remember SimTower it was one of the best simulator games of its time. The reason this was so good was because it was a simulator that gave you the tools to be creative as well as managing your tower.

This is where Project Highrise comes in, having a simulator that lets you be creative as you manage your very own skyscraper. You get to build how you want and however you want. You build your own ecosystem that you must keep a close eye on. You have to manage happiness, money and even your fame.

The art is super cute and has a nice look to it, everything looks bright and colourful and the music is amazing, I dig this game.

You start off by building the foundation of what will become a towering monolith of a structure. You must put offices in your building and then delegate them to who you want to work there; insurance companies, legal workers, accountants and creative studios. These all have their own requirements. All offices need electricity but the higher paying businesses will require more utilities such as phone lines or cable.  After a good amount of income  you can start expanding to the point where you will need cafés and retail stores or even residential tenants.

Project Highrise comes with its own campaign mode in the form of scenarios where you must bring a skyscraper to glory. As well as that, this wouldn’t be a creative simulator without its sandbox mode, this one comes with difficulty levels and starting conditions for you to just start a building from scratch with no particular goal. There is also the ability to mod Project Highrise so there are endless possibilities for what you can do.

There are demands you must keep up with, specialised consultants that can help you increase the curb appeal and efficiency of your tower. You can even get enough influence and prestige that you can use to get upgrades from city hall.

To conclude, Project Highrise has great Gameplay, Mechanics, Management. I love it! This is the right game for people who enjoy games like Prison Architect, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Factorio and SimTower (obviously) This will be the game I play until Planet Coaster and even beyond that. This year has been tough in terms of getting together games of the year list and this game has made it even harder and we’re only 3 quarters through.
