I can’t believe we get scammed by a kid within a few hours of arriving in Hong Kong!!

Here we are beginning the next step of Ryo Hazuki’s epic journey as he swaps his quaint town in Japan for the hustle and bustle of the big city, Hong Kong.

When we arrive in Aberdeen, Hong Kong, the first thing we do is check the letter we got from Master Chen at the end of Shenmue, which suggests we head off to find Lishao Tao in the Yan Tin Apartments.

Instantly Ryo is overhwlemed by all the people trying to hustle him, and get him to buy things the minute he’s off the boat. Along the way we have to arm wrestle for cash, which includes the first Shenmue 2 QTE, to get info about where we need to go. Then we meet a girl on a motorbike called Joy that we’re gonna get to know a lot better as the game progresses.

On our way to the Yan Tin Apartments, we get scammed by a kid and 3 thugs who steal our backpack which means the Phoenix Mirror is gone!!!

Just as some more local thugs start causing trouble with us, Joy comes to the rescue and lets us know the littlle kid that scammed us is called Wong and he’s down at Pigeon Park.

A trip down to the park leaves us chasing Wong with a great QTE and eventually catching up with the 3 thugs too for our first free battle. After making short work of them Wong agrees to take us to get our bag back.

Thankfully the Phoenix Mirror and all our other items are still in the bag, but all of our money has been stolen. To try and make up for the missing money Wong gives us directions to the Come Over Guest House where we might be able to get info about the Yin Tan Apartments.
