Sombra has a great new Overwatch update for you!
Update 1.5 is now live on PC, PS4, and Xbox One bringing with it the much anticipated Overwatch character Sombra. For those who haven’t had the chance to play Sombra on the test server or who haven’t already jumped online to enjoy Overwatch’s new purple predator here’s a quick run down on her lethal arsenal.
At her core Sombra is a hacker, she’s the love child of our popculture Hacker dreams and those annoying little DDOS brats that keep destroying our gaming fun day in and day out. she can hack characters to disable their abilities but not their guns for six seconds. Able to hack health packs to isolate them for whichever team she’s on this severely limits other players healing abilities and will put a lot more pressure on the healing classes. Torbjorn’s once lethal turrets take a hit from Sombra as she can knock them out of commission and her ultimate lets her hack everybody in a large vicinity all at once, destroying barriers and shields. Hacking also makes enemies visible through walls to your team mates. And that’s just when she’s feeling touchy feely getting her hack on!
With a translocator grenade at her disposal which allows her to teleport to wherever it is at will for a full 15 seconds she hardly needs the stealth of being able to turn completely invisible but she can. Sombra is able to see enemies at half-health or less through walls, which is extremely handy, particularly for sneak attacks as her SMG’s aren’t quite as powerful as Tracers.
Wether Sombra will remain so powerful in the weeks to come we will have to wait and see but for now you can get to enjoy her in all her glory!
It isn’t all about Sombra in Update 1.5 though, as part of the new Arcade Feature that was talked about at Blizzcon earlier this month a bunch of new modes have been added as well as a new map Ecopoint: Antarctica, to accommodate a couple of those new modes. You’ll now have the luxury of a mystery duel which will give those players claiming they were the whole team a reason to suddenly be the whole team! Other new modes include Elimination, Mystery Heroes, which can only be described as the Russian Roulette of Overwatch for a lot of seasoned players who prefer a particular hero, All Brawls and No limits. In addition Pharah has finally got her full pilots licence and can now fly forever! Zarya has thankfully had a slight power cut making her slightly less terrifying, slightly! As well as a sling of modifications to other characters base skills and performances. The update also included the details for season 3 of competitive play, which doesn’t start until November,30th.
