WHO IS REN OF HEAVENS? – Shenmue 2 | Part 6

Welcome to a FULL playthrough of Sega’s greatest fracnhise and indeed possibly the best game ever made, a timeless classic from the Dreamcast, Shenmue 2.

Last time we found a slip of paper inside the Wulinshu so this time we’re gonna take it round a few antique shops and see if anyone can tell us anything about it. A trip to Collect Antiques teaches us that it’s a Chawan sign used to communicate with other martial artists but Guixiang at Yan Tin Apartments could tell us more.

Guixiang explains how Chawan signs work and that we must place cups in certain positions in certain locations to attract the attention of other martial artists.

We have another day of airing out the books and another chat with Fangmei before learning another move from the man at Man Mo Temple and heading out to Man Mo Bistro to place the Chawan sign. When we leave the sign in Man Mo Bistro we’re given a note to meet someone at the Come Over Guest House at 7pm where they then call us to meet at Man Mo Park.

On the way back to Come Over Guest House, we bump into the old master from Guang Martial Arts School who teaches us a new throw move.

At Man Mo Park things take a very expected turn and we find out we’re gonna need to place the Chawan sign at Dou Jiang Diner in the Lucky Charm Quarter.

When we place the Chawan sign at Dou Jiang Diner, we are told to come back at 8pm for our first time meeting Yuandu’s contact, but before we can have a chat we get ambushed. We deal with the thread but realise the contact has gone, he’s been grabbed by a gang and kidnapped. Here comes a nice long QTE through the streets of Hong Kong.

When we catch up with the gang we are severely out numbered but then Lishao Tao sneaks out of the shadows and takes out the whole gang single handedly without us even knowing it.

Yuandus’s contact tells me that he is being hunted by the Chiyoumen and if we want to help we will need to find Ren of Heavens, the rival of the gang trying to find Yuandu, the Yellow Heads. Lishao Tao warns us off hunting Ren of Heavens and needlessly risking or life but we are too stubborn to listen.
