Game of Thrones Season 6 Premier Review
Full spoilers ahead:
The first episode of Game of Thrones season 6 has officially aired and the product of one year’s wait was… unsatisfying.
Not that the episode was all bad, it opened interestingly and had me seriously believing Jon Snow would return within the first 15 minutes. The episode was just kind of over at some point. We saw more of Mereen, which is still uninteresting. Not only that, but with the burning of Daenerys’ ships, she “won’t be returning to Westeros any time soon”, as Tyrion put it. Really disappointing as nothing has happened over the course of 5 seasons. Speaking of the Khaleesi we saw her with her new Khalasar, where she was disrespected then respected again. I’m seriously getting fucking tired of nothing meaningful in her storyline. We already know that she’s been through abuse and hardship, you don’t need to keep repeating that as a form of characterization.
It’s becoming a pretty boring game
It would also seem that King’s Landing shall soon be known as “Queen’s Landing”. I have more than a gut feeling that Sansa will be vying for the throne after she gets Winterfell back, and the weirdly attractive Indian lady seems like she may want a hostile takeover of Westeros.
Meanwhile at The Wall, a few men loyal to Jon Snow and Ser Davos held up in a room along with Ghost and Melisandre. Melisandre also being an old lady now, though it’s nice to see that even though she’s 99 years old, she likes to keep it as hairless as a bald man. Yes, you do see old woman vagina in this episode of Game of Thrones.
All in all, this was an okay episode. It didn’t manage to live up to the hype, but I don’t think anything could have. So much happened in so many different places that it felt like nothing happened at all, and it’s a problem I think we’ll have this entire season.
